Michigan licenses residential builders and maintenance and alteration contractors through LARA: ask for the license number and look it up at lara.michigan.gov/colaLicVerify. Ask for certificates of liability insurance and workers' compensation, and have any sump tie-in, backwater valve or sewer lateral work done by a licensed plumbing contractor under a plumbing permit.

The only income the site can earn is a flat advertising fee paid by contractors. Homeowners are never charged and are never given money, gifts or anything else of value.
